The loss of the Georgetown Public
Library to fire in April, 2007 led us to think about the fragile state of
our neighborhood public libraries. This project is the product of a group of
individuals who have a hopeful vision for building better, stronger
libraries throughout the city. The artists contributed their work,
Gypsy Eyes Records and
The Federal Reserve
Collective contributed use of the works, and Proper Topper contributed
production costs. All proceeds from sales of this CD go directly
to the DCPL Foundation. CDs
are available for $10 at either
Proper Topper location or on
our website.

Spring Celebration
Saturday, April
19
On a beautiful, sun-drenched April morning, Friends of Rose Park and Proper
Topper hosted the 4th Annual Rose Park Spring Celebration. The fun
included bonnet trimming (the one-of-a-kind creations were spectacular!),
pony rides & baby farm animals, moon bouncing, face painting, and live rock
& roll music for all ages from These United States, Brandon Butler, Rose,
Kitty Hawk, and Vandaveer.
The
Spring Celebration was free to all, but many generous donations were made to
Friends of Rose Park. Thank you to all who helped us celebrate!
Friends of Rose Park
is a non-profit organization that, along with the District of Columbia and
the National Park Service, funds maintenance and improvement of our
neighborhood treasure, Rose Park.

Knitter's
Delight!
We converted our
secret garden into a farmer's market during December, presenting unique
local treats and beautiful fresh touches for the holidays: hand spun organic
yarns from
Solitude,
a small farm in Western Loudon County (knitters, you'll be in heaven!);
holiday wreaths and plants; honey and other bee products; one-of-a-kind
handmade gifts, and lots more, all in our Georgetown garden. Stay tuned
for a reprise this spring!
